Team NWCC initially took a step back when the brand new VW Transporter (T6) was launched last Autumn. This gave us the opportunity to have time to order the exact base vehicle we required along with time to discuss between ourselves the products we wanted to promote this season.
The build chosen for demonstration purposes is one of the popular client choices year after year; NWCC’s Traditional Lux Conversion has proven a success with continual bookings for this style of interior build. Completing a demonstration vehicle is of the upmost importance to our team as it enables a visual of the finished interior for potential clients as well as assistance to current clients for build material choices.
As with many client builds and other demonstration vehicles over the years, there are features that are completed without hesitation. The addition of an elevating roof we feel is essential providing much needed headroom for cooking and day to day Living/Camping within the vehicle, as well as extra space for sleeping; Transforming the T6 into a far more practical 4 berth van making the vehicle seem a lot more spacious. We are able to extend the camping and outdoor season for as long as wanted, wherever in the world and whatever the weather, with the Eberspächer Airtronic Air Heating System with Easy Start (801) Control, keeping the passenger compartment of the VW T6 Camper Conversion cosy & warm.
Year Upon year the final specification of NWCC’s Traditional Lux conversion slightly alters, this due to team progress in design & build process as well as product development. Team NWCC are always wanting to better our final product, offering our clients practicality and simplicity. We therefore decided to standardise the SARGENT EC155/EC51 Power Kit into this build; The EC155 is a compact 100W power supply unit and charger. Combining this power kit with a slimline solar panel located on the elevating roof the end user is left with a continual trickle charge of 12v power, allowing periods away from the commercial Campsites enabling enjoyment and a little peace of tranquility.
We understand that these vehicles are not only used for camping adventures, but are also used as every day ‘School-Run Taxis, Shopping Carriers, Business Journeys’. The storage space within the interior cabinetry is essential for packing in all of the equipment needed, therefore we highly recommend installation of the under chassis products available. The 12V Under chassis leisure supply package gives the ability to house two 45amp batteries under the body within a galvanised steel battery tray which is easy to remove and built to avoid rust & corrosion. The under chassis water tank with passenger step entry fill point allows 30L of water storage. The 20L under chassis LPG gas tank with onboard LED level indication ensures no gas is held within the traveling or sleeping compartments. For practically the roof holds the latest Thule Rapid System (962) Black Wing Bars, with low profile foot pack. These are the quietest, most aerodynamic Thule roof bars yet; Extensively wind tunnel tested in Thules own bespoke facility – Offers a 90% reduction in sound energy over the previous aerobat models at 122 km/h.
Here at NWCC we rely a lot on client feedback and often it is mentioned to us the lack of cooking that is actually completed within these vehicles; This is the reasoning behind us opting to include the Can LC1701 single round foldy combination unit. Not only does it offer a deeper wash bowl, when folded away it provides optimum worktop surface space and is also extremely quiet when traveling ie. No Rattles. To coincide with this install we also recommend the under chassis LPG gas tank & the external BBQ point to enable outdoor cooking avoiding any lingering smells within your vehicle.
With all demonstration vehicles we aim to promote as much product as we can; We feel promoting a fitted product allows us not only the time to try & test materials as well as new products, It is also a lot easier for potential clients to see product on a vehicle in house than on a screen or via a piece of literature. The main noticeable difference is the use of Harris Tweed, this has been fantastically used for both seating upholstery and interior enhancing. The Harris tweed has been used to complete a slatted underside to the elevating roof bed, front cab section divider, rear speaker surrounds and conversion excessories, ie. Cushions, Jack Bag, Hook-Up lead bag.
To obtain the base vehicle colour we required for this vehicle we had to place a factory order for a ‘STARTLINE’, as the Grape Yellow colour is not available in HIGHLINE specification. This initially meant a lengthly order process specifying our base vehicle to include all that is standard on a HIGHLINE such as, Electric Pack / AC / Etc … Additionally we requested DSG 140BHP, & Multifunction steering wheel.
Externally this vehicle has had a complete transformation; With plenty of OEM genuine VW accessories added. As the STARTLING base vehicle was complete with OEM commercial textured bumpers which on the generation 6 models include a 1-piece moulded front bumper, We had to separately order In VW HIGHLINE Smooth bumpers which were prepared and then colour coded Grape Yellow, with Gloss Black detailing throughout the grilles. The addition of a Caravelle Gloss-Black front grille completed the front, working your way around the vehicle we have the brand new VWT6 angled side bars, Rear Bumper Protector and Mudflaps. To the rear the OEM VW T6 Tailgate spoiler which is a lot smaller and more subtle than pervious generations.
We were fortunate enough to be able to purchase genuine OEM factory Bentley Continental GTC Flying Spur MILLINER 20 inch Wheels which have been coloured to match the base vehicle. The reason behind us opting for these wheels was that they are manufactured by BBS whom have a continuous relationship with the Audi-VW group. Behind the Bentley Continental GTC Flying Spur MILLINER 20 inch Wheels you can see a glimpse of the upgraded 180 Bi-Turbo monster callipers & disc set-up. The callipers were de-textured and power coated in Grape Yellow to coincide with the alloy wheel & base vehicle colouring.
It’s clear to see that this vehicle has a ‘Low’ presence when stationery; With team NWCC having invested in the HP Drivetech Strut Kit – Gold E-Level Limited Edition Touchpad & Manifold Kit / Twin 444c Compressors Accuair Power Kit. Additionally the time was taken to strip down and arrange colour coding of the Brakes & Callipers. Internally all to enhance the appearance of the final conversion we have incorporated RECARO Cross Sportster CS Seating also colour coding these to match the vehicle. Additionally colour coding has been completed to the SCA internal pod, SCA internal & external gas struts as well as to the steering Wheel Inserts & Gear Gaiter Surround.
The FIAMMA F45s an innovative and compact awning – (260cm) To suit the VWT6 SWB in Deep Black has been mounted to the Reimo Multi Rail with NWCC’s 2 piece adaption kit. The easy-to-use awning which joins todays best technologies, service and quality! The F45s awning is compact, functional and of superior quality, making it the best choice for your holidays! Complete with a Cool ‘Deluxe Grey’ vinyl canopy – UV resistant, waterproof and washable.
No conversion is complete without an audio upgrade, this vehicle includes the Kenwood ‘DNX525DAB’ Multimedia System (VW Approved Accessory). Focal ‘PS165F′ Front Speakers & Tweeters combined with Focal ‘PC100′ 4″ Rear Speakers – This all completing the build.
This vehicle is available in house at NWCC to view throughout the summer season, You will also have the opportunity to view this vehicle at a number of shows/events. (These will be advertised on the NWCC website when appropriate). Most recently we had a fantastic response and Camper Jam 2016 was a complete success for the NWCC team after the late nights of preparation we came home with two awards and a number of potential future customers.
