Built upon the renowned Volkswagen T6.1 chassis, here at New Wave we had the pleasure of creating this fantastic conversion in the early summer of 2022. Adding to his existing collection of new Wave conversions, the previous owner of this vehicle commissioned the build to support his active professional lifestyle, with improved practicality over his dedicated ‘camper’ conversion, but maintaining the comfort, space and quality of a New Wave transporter.

We’re certain that, much like the previous owner, this T6.1 will be the perfect vehicle for active professionals, or perhaps a growing family looking for more cabin room than a typical family SUV. Those seeking a practical, luxury vehicle will note the extensive attention to detail in both the internal and external specification of this T6.1.

Our in-house conversion of this vehicle begins with the cabin space, where no detail has been left untouched. The originally grey plastics have been refinished in stunning jet black, whilst Alcantara features heavily throughout the headlining and pillars of the cab. Volkswagen factory fitted swivel bases allow both the driver’s and passenger seats to rotate, facing the genuine Volkswagen sliding action table. Fitted with 6 individual seats, four of which have a swivel capacity, we have retrofitted a full OEM floor rail system to the interior of this vehicle. Bespoke Alcantara covered sun visors have been installed, complete with bespoke New Wave CNC’d mirrors: in our opinion a small but vital detail on a build of such prestige.

Moving towards the rear of the vehicle, a highlighting feature is our New Wave CC signature floating headliner. This consists of a full alcantara lining, with inboard flush-fitted spotlights machined into the headliner recession. A secondary LED halo adds to the illusion of a ‘floating’ mid-section, controlled individually within the rear cabin.

Perfect for the chill of an early spring morning surf, or late-autumn evening walk, a standalone Webasto diesel heater and leisure battery have been installed on this vehicle. Gone are the days of waiting for a van to warm up post-adventure… our used-approved T6.1 Caravelle will greet you with pre-heated warmth after every excursion!

The rear cabin spaces offers a fantastic balance of practicality and luxury. The seating is finished in stunning black Napa leather, with a complimenting black top stitch; luxury without the worry of damaging a cream interior with potentially muddy walking boots! Black latex-backed carpeting offers fabulous touch-appeal, whilst maintaining excellent waterproofing qualities too.

The exterior of this vehicle epitomises ‘OEM+’ coachbuilding values, gently modifying and improving the widely celebrated facelifted Volkswagen T6.1 visuals. Fitted in-house here at NWCC, a genuine ABT 3 piece front bumper kit has been installed onto this vehicle. Chrome trapeze side side bars are paired with a set of BBS SX 18″ alloy wheels, which in our opinion look incredible when paired with the stunning exterior of this Pure Grey 150 DSG. Opting for an 18″ alloy also allows the use of a ’45’ profile tyre, which vastly improves the road comfort of these vehicles.

Behind the scenes, we have also installed a set of Eibach adjustable coilovers to the vehicle, another ‘must have’ upgrade in our opinion. Not only do these vastly improve the ride quality and handling of the vehicle, but also allow for a fully adjustable ride height too.

This gorgeous T6.1 offers the opportunity that so few do; the chance of a bespoke built, practical family vehicle at a heavily discounted rate when compared to building from new. This has been one of our favourite builds ever completed here at New Wave Custom Conversions… we are certain that the new owner will be elated with their fantastic bespoke Caravelle.
