And this is what the Verso is all about” explains Mike; taking a blank canvas and sculpting one’s personality into very essence of a conversion.
He has just finished a consultation with Mr and Mrs C, discussing the upholstery options on the factory fitted swivel seats and VW approved slide action rear seat.
Incidentally, they have opted for a deep brown leather and diamond stitch.
well suited to the timeless calming colour palette they are aiming to achieve on the interior.
Supplied as a ‘NWCC Standard Order’, the build arrives with us as a Bay Leaf Green 150 DSG Highline with a single slide door and glazed tailgate… a fantastic basis for development when crafting a conversion.
Spring is well under way and light pours through the open factory doors, bringing warmth onto the walnut-finish furniture. Again, Mike remarks how well these colours compliment the Bay Leaf Green exterior, and as usual he is not wrong.
The standard Verso hardware has now been installed; a Dometic hob, sink and 12v compressor fridge combination, 240v on-site hookup, underbody fresh water tank and exterior shower… to name a few!
A van built for year-round adventures, the team busy themselves fitting an optional extra webasto diesel heater, allowing for usage in the coldest of cold climates. Complete with a Reimo Vtech open sky roof, the possibilities for exploration are endless…
With sleeping and travel for 4, I imagine winter ski trips or summer tours around Europe in an interior build to last lifetimes.
As the build comes to completion, the extensive interior storage is being triple checked by Mike as he readies the van for handover the following week. We take a moment to stand back and admire the personality of this project. Countless hours invested into colour and top stitch selection have clearly paid off.
Mr and Mrs C have made the interior a place of sanctuary; a place they will never tire of spending time, a home away from home.
