The Belfry Crafter Conversion

The Belfry Crafter Conversion

This would be our second van, upsizing from a LWB transporter, and we were looking for a quality converter who could really grasp what our family of four needed. After a little searching we came across NWCC and their developing crafter conversion programme. The passion from Mike for the builds that he and his team create was clear from the outset and after a visit to see their work we were in no doubt we had made the right choice.

The van would need to comfortably sleep a family of four on long trips, away from camp sites and throughout the seasons. We carry a lot of gear: on top of the usual baby junk there are numerous surfboards and bikes. This was clearly going to be a challenge for Mike and the team to design a layout which would fit in our MWB Crafter but Mike was clear from the outset that what we envisaged was possible.

After a week away in Northumberland we can say that the layout Mike and John came up with suits us perfectly. The clever use of space provides huge amount of storage whilst leaving the van feeling roomy. The custom RIB bed provides a comfortable second sleeping platform for two on top of the upper bunk, which is also perfect for housing the kids on rainy days. With the large fridge, oven and double burner we cook anything we would do at home, just with a better view. Having the kitchen facing out of the side door makes for much more sociable cooking compared with a standard transporter conversion. The gas cylinder and solar power provide all the power needed when away from campsites and the truma heating / hot water system is faultless.

The detail and thought gone into the finish of this custom conversion is just exceptional, it looks incredible and we have no doubt it will withstand two energetic kids bouncing around it for the foreseeable future.

Thanks again to all the team. Everyone was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish.

“Thank you so much for the Lovely write up from the Belfry Family, We hope you have many happy years in your newly converted Vehicle.”
